El-Sulya returns, Hegazi excluded as Al Ahly announce squad for derby

Al Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has named a 26-man squad for the upcoming game against rivals Zamalek in the 17th round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The 56-year-old has decided to exclude Ahmed Hegazy, Rami Rabia, and Bassem Ali for injury, while John Antwi was excluded for technical reasons.

The squad has witnessed the return of Mossad Awad, Mohamed Hamdy, Akram Tawfik, Ali Maaloul and Amr El-Sulaya, who recovered from the injury he sustained during Al Ahly’s game against Tala’a El-Geish last month.

It’s worth mentioning that the Cairo derby has been moved to Petrosport stadium from Borg El-Arab and will be played on Thursday, December 29 at 18:00 CLT.

Al Ahly currently lead the Egyptian Premier League with 42 points, while Zamalek are third with 34 points, but they have two games in hand against Misr El-Maqassa and Tala’a El-Geish.

Al Ahly Squad: 

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekramy, Mohamed El-Shenawy, Ahmed Adel Abdel-Moneim, Mossad Awad.

Defenders: Ahmed Fathy, Sabry Rahil, Hussien El-Sayed, Mohamed Hany, Saad Samir, Mohamed Naguib, Ali Maaloul.

Midfielders: Hossam Ghaly, Abdallah El-Said, Karim Nedved, Walid Soliman, Saleh Gomaa, Mido Gaber, Hossam Ashour, Momen Zakaria, Amr El-Sulaya, Akram Tawfik.

Forwards: Amr Gamal, Marwan Mohsen, Emad Meteb, Junior Ajayi, Mohamed Hamdy Zaky.
