Barnsley coach: Sam Morsy deserved to be with the Egyptian team
Barnsley head coach Paul Heckingbottom pointed out that Egypt international Sam Morsy should have been training with the Egyptian national team now getting ready for the 2017 AFCON.
Morsy fulfilled his dream recently and made his debut with the national team in Egypt’s 1-1 draw against Guinea. However, the 25-year-old player won’t be able to participate with the Pharaohs in the upcoming period due to administrative errors.
“Sam Morsy deserved to be with Egypt. But their administrative error has only benefited our club,” Hecky commented. “He is a great player to us.”
Morsy, who recently moved to Barnsley FC on a loan from Wigan Athletic, will not be able to play with Egypt during the 2017 AFCON as he is now facing a military issue. “We’ve sorted out the passport issue and then I got a message from the assistant the other day saying that we hadn’t sorted out the military issue in time,” Morsy confirmed.
