Zamalek coach Mohamed Helmy has announced on Tuesday a 20-man squad for the derby clash with Al Ahly in gameweek 17 of the Egyptian Premier League.

Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek will meet on Thursday night before a lengthy break due to Egypt’s participation in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Osama Ibrahim missed out on the White Castle’s squad after receiving his third yellow card in his side’s 2-0 win over Sharkia, while Emmanuel Mayuka was excluded due to injury.

Meanwhile, the squad saw the return of important players, namely Ali Gabr and Tarek Hamed after they missed the Sharkia game due to suspension. Ayman Hefny, who was left out of the previous game’s squad due to injury, was included against Al Ahly.

Zamalek Squad

Goalkeepers: Ahmed El-Shennawy, Omar Salah

Defenders: Mohamed Nassef, Ali Gabr, Mahmoud Hamdy ‘El-Wensh’, Shawky El-Said, Hosny Fathi, Ahmed Dewidar

Midfielders: Moruf Youssef, Ibrahim Salah, Tarek Hamed, Ahmed Refaat, Salah Rico, Mohamed Ibrahim, Mahmoud Abdel-Razik ‘Shikabala’, Ayman Hefny, Mahmoud Dunga

Forwards: Ahmed Gaafar, Stanley Ohawuchi, Bassem Morsy

Zamalek, who played two games less than leaders Al Ahly, are currently third on 34 points. A win over Al Ahly would put the White Castle in the second place and reduce the eight-point gap with the Red Devils at the top of the league.
