Koka features in Braga’s 2-1 loss to his former side Rio Ave
Egypt international forward Ahmed Hassan Koka has featured in Braga’s 2-1 loss to his former side Rio Ave in the third round of Taça da Liga.
Sporting Braga was drawn in group C alongside Marítimo, Rio Ave, and second division side Sporting Covilhã, with only the top team from the group qualify to the semi-finals.
The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute thanks to Rui Fonte, but Rio Ave managed to equalise in the 19th minute through Roderick Miranda’s penalty.
Two minutes before the end of half-time, Cape Verde international player Héldon Ramos scored the winning goal to earn all three points for Rio Ave.
On the other hand, Sporting da Covilhã earned a tough 1-1 draw against Marítimo. Mike Moura gave Covilhã the lead before Cameroon’s Donald Djousse scored the equaliser.
Hassan’s side will face Sporting da Covilhã on Monday, January 2 in Braga, while Marítimo are set to host Rio Ave on the next day.
It’s worth mentioning that Koka was called up by Héctor Cúper for the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Gabon from 14 January to 5 February.
