Egypt group rivals Mali name provisional AFCON 2017 squad

Egypt’s Group D counterparts Mali have announced their preliminary squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in January.

French manager Alain Giresse has named a 25-man squad which is set to be shrank later on before The Eagles fly toward Gabon.

The squad was free of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore who had announced previously that he will not be a part of the team participating in the African competition. Furthermore, Monaco’s Adama Traore made the provisional list of the Malian squad.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Soumaila Diakité , Djigui Diarra , Oumar Sissoko

Defenders: Ousmane Coulibaly , Hamari Traore , Falaye Sacko , Molla Wagué , Salif Coulibaly , Mohamed Oumar Konaté , Charles Blonda Traoré , Mahamadou N’Diaye , Youssouf Koné

Midfielders: Yves Bissouma , Mamoutou N’Diaye , Lassana Coulibaly , Yacouba Sylla , Samba Sow , Adama Traoré (AS Monaco, France), Sambou Yatabaré , Souleymane Diarra , Moussa Doumbia

Forwards: Moussa Marega , Kalifa Coulibaly , Moustapha Yatabaré , Adama Traoré (TP Mazembe, DR Congo), Bakary Sako.

 Mali will take on Egypt in Group D’s opening game on January 17 in the group that also includes Ghana and Uganda.
