2015 Nigeria U-17 defender shot dead in Benin City

Uzama Douglas

A Nigerian defender, who was part of the 2015 U-17 dream team, was shot dead on Thursday in Benin City.

Uzama Douglas played for Nigeria in the 2015 Africa U-17 Championship in Niger, where the team finished in fourth place. But he was not part of the selection to the FIFA U-17 World Cup, later in that year.

It is believed that he was shot by cultists in Benin City. Uzama Douglas was with his friends when he was attacked by the armed men.

The 18 year old played for Gombe United, in Nigeria, and featured for the U-20 team in 2016. His club has since issued a message of condolences, to his family.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
