Egypt group rivals Ghana name provisional AFCON squad

Ghana’s national team manager Avram Grant has announced his 26-man provisional squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team will kick-off an 11-day training camp in Al Ain in UAE before going to Gabon on January 13 for the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Leicester’s Jeff Schlupp and Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah were left out of Ghana’s squad, while Schlupp’s team-mate Daniel Amartey, Christian Atsu, Andre Ayew, his brother Jordan and Al Ahly target Ebenezer Assifuah were all included.

The Black Stars were drawn in Group D alongside Egypt, Mali, and Uganda, and their first match will be against the latter on 17 January.
