Egypt’s group opponents Uganada lost 2-0 in a pre-African Cup of Nations friendly match against Tunisia.

Tunisia dominated the game, and scored their first goal with a free-kick by Hamza Lahmar in the 6th minute. The Carthage Eagles doubled the lead two minutes into the second half after a goal by Mohammed Ali Yaacoubi.

Uganda were seeded in Group D in the African Cup of Nations, and are set to face Egypt, Ghana and Mali. Egypt and Uganda go head to head on the 21st of January, during the second round of the group stages.

Egypt face Tunisia in a friendly match on the 8th of January ahead of the tournament.

The African Cup of Nations is set to kick-off on the 14th of January, and it will be hosted in Gabon. The Pharaohs will play their first match on the 17th against Mali.

It is worth noting that Egypt will be participating in the AFCON for the first time since 2010, when they won the tournament for the third time in a row.
