Micho names Uganda squad for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations

Uganda national team manager Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named the final 23-man squad that will play at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The Cranes were seeded in Group D along with Egypt, Ghana and Mali. Egypt and Uganda will go head to head on the Jan. 21, during the second round of the group stage.

The team recently lost 2-0 in a friendly match against Tunisia in preparations for the African tournament. They will play against Slovakia and reigning African champions Ivory Coast in their next warm-up games on January 8 and 11, respectively.

The Cranes will kick off their campaign in the tournament with a match against Ghana on Jan. 17 in Port Gentil before playing Mali and Egypt. This marks their first participation in the Africa Cup of Nations since 1978.
