Morsy: I left my father’s funeral to play with Egypt
Zamalek striker Bassem Morsy expressed his sorrow for his elimination from the national team final squad list that will participate in the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
Morsy assured that he did not speak with the technical staff after his elimination and is wishing the best of luck for the players who will be in Gabon.
The 25-year-old striker was not included in Cuper’s final 23-man list for the African championship.
“Of course I’m sad, according to all surveys and polls I’m the best striker in Egypt and I was not chosen to represent the national team,” Morsy said to DMC Sports TV channel. “I left my father’s funeral to be part of Egypt’s match against Tanzania and scored a goal.”
“I’ve helped Zamalek win the league title and Egypt cup and won five awards as Egypt’s best player and top striker,” he concluded.
