Moroccan International Adel Taarabt has joined Italy’s Genoa from Portuguese side Benfica on an 18-month loan deal in an attempt to save his career.

The Italian side have confirmed the signing of Taarabt on their website, where he’s going to be presented to the press next Thursday.

The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is looking to save his career after spending a year-and-half without first-team football.

The 27-year-old signed for SL Benfica in June 2015, but has found regular football hard to come by as he failed to make a single appearance for the Portuguese side and was forced to feature for Benfica B after multiple disputes with the club.

Taarabt is set for a Serie A return with Genoa after spending a six-month loan spell at Italian giants AC Milan in 2014, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.

The talented playmaker started his career at French side RC Lens, before making his way to England, where he represented Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers, and Fulham.
