AFCON Roundup: Group A teams share spoils

KingFut rounds up group stage matches of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, which kicked off in Gabon on Saturday.

Gabon vs Guinea-Bissau

Guinea-Bissau scored late to hold hosts Gabon to a 1-1 draw in the opening game of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave his side the lead from Denis Bouanga’s cross after 52 minutes. However, tournament debutant Guinea-Bissau managed to score late as defender Juary Soares headed the ball past Didier Ovono in the 90th minute to snatch a 1-1 draw in the AFCON opener.

Burkina Faso vs Cameroon

Burkina Faso claimed a 1-1 draw against Cameroon in their first group stage game. Benjamin Moukandjo opened the scoring for Cameroon from a free-kick in the 35th minute. The Burkinabe made it 1-1 after Issoufou Dayo headed home to score an equaliser 15 minutes from time. Gabon will face Burkina Faso in their second game on Jan. 18, while Guinea-Bissau will play against Cameroon.
