Ekramy leaves Egypt training session because of hamstring injury
Egypt and Al Ahly goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday during Egypt training session in preparation for AFCON match against Mali.
Ekramy left the training session as the told the medical staff that he is feeling pain in his hamstring. The goalkeeper was given a short rest until Saturday and went through the needed medical checks.
The medical staff assured that the x-ray results were comforting and that the player will be training with the team again to determine whether he will be able to play in AFCON or not.
The 33-year-old commented on his injury through his twitter account by saying: “Thank god for everything. I know that this is a hard test of patience for me at this time but I accept god’s will,” he tweeted. “All those who are close to me know how much I wanted to play in this historical championship. I will continue with the team under any circumstances, thankfully, the x-ray result was comforting, I will do my best to be with the team during the start of the championship.”
In addition to Ekramy, Hector Cuper called-up goalkeepers Essam El-Hadary and Ahmed El-Shennawy for the 2017 AFCON.
