KingFut continues to round up group stage matches of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, taking place in Gabon. Here’s a recap of Monday’s action:
Côte d’Ivoire vs Togo
Competition favorites and AFCON 2015 champions, Côte d’Ivoire started off their campaign with a goalless draw with Togo. Throughout the match Les Éléphants created many chances to go ahead with Togo defending well throughout the match.
Morocco vs DR Congo
In the other match in Group C, Morocco played against DR Congo. Morocco dominated throughout the match and entered half time drawn 0-0 with DR Congo. However, only 10 minutes into the 2nd half Kalonji scored to put DR Congo ahead. Even after Joyce Lomalisa Mutambala received a red card, Morocco were unable to take advantage of their many chances.
The results leave DR Congo top of the group with 3 points. Morocco will look to get back on track when they play Togo on January 20. Côte d’Ivoire will be looking for the 3 points to boost their campaign as they take on DR Congo on Matchday 2 on January 20.
