Hull City vice-chairman Ehab Allam stressed that the Tigers have never been a selling club under his family’s ownership, after a number of players were linked with moves away.

Hull City have recently turned down official bids for a number of key players in the team’s current squad. Allam refused to comment on the future of players individually but made it clear that they intend to strengthen the squad this month and provide support for newly appointed coach Marco Silva.

“We have never been a selling club under our ownership,” Ehab told Yorkshire Post. “Look at the last six years, we have been a buying club and not a selling one.

Ehab said that they’re not planning to sell players as they’re currently battling to pull clear of the drop zone with the team being 18th in the English top-flight table on 16 points from 21 games. He added that they don’t want to weaken the team and are focusing on making additions.

“Having said that, everything and everyone has its price. And you can’t hold people to ransom and say: ‘You are not leaving, regardless’. It is also true that we need everyone pulling in the same direction if we are to win this survival fight.

“There is no appetite to sell but if we do then the price would have to reflect that we are fighting for survival and do not need to sell,” he added.

Allam said that the January transfer window is an opportunity to strengthen the squad, adding that they will back their newly appointed manager to win the survival fight.

“We got two [new signings] in on Friday and, hopefully, there are more to come,” Ehab added. “We are backing him [Marco Silva] to a level that is sustainable for this club, we are Hull after all. He is aware of the budget and so far, so good. I like the changes he has made.”

Agent of Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady who plays for Hull, recently revealed that the right-back might leave the Tigers if they’re relegated at the end of this season, revealing that the 29-year-old already have offers from Premier League sides.
