Ghana tops Group D temporarily as they down Uganda one nil in the group’s opening match.

The first 20 minutes lacked energy and action as both teams tried to maintain position and secure their areas.

At the 32nd minute Ghana’s Veteran Asamoah Gyan earned his side a penalty kick after getting challenged inside Uganda’s penalty box.

Andre Ayew managed to convert the penalty kick accurately at the back of the net marking the Black Stars’s goal.

Both teams failed to score further goals until the referee blew the full time whistle as Ghana managed to defend their area strongly, marking the Black stars’ first three points in the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

Following the win Ghana tops Group D table temporarily with three points, as they await the outcome of Egypt’s match against Mali.

Mohammed Salama is a 20-year-old who fell in love with football since Egypt's AFCON final match against Ivory Coast! Strangely enough an Al Ahly and Al Masry fan locally. In addition, he's a hardcore Bayern Munich supporter.
