Mali coach Alain Giresse officially confirmed that Soumbeyla Diakite and attacker Adama Traoré are out of the Mali-Egypt game in the 2017 African Cup of Nations due to injury.

Diakite who is suffering from a shoulder injury is Mali’s first-choice goalkeeper and was supposed to start Egypt’s match. Adama Traoré is a midfielder for Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

“There are a lot of obstacles that we might be facing while getting ready for the tournament. This was clear with Diakite after his shoulder injury,” Giresse told Mali Web. “Adama Traoré is also suffering from a knee injury, we’re giving him extra attention to get him ready for next matches.”

The Eagles will be facing Egypt on Tuesday in their first match in the championship.
