Egypt international Mohamed Elneny has praised Mali, describing them as a tough opponent after the game which ended in a goalless draw.

The Pharaohs dropped two points after the goalless draw with Mali on Tuesday, but the Arsenal midfielder believes that his side still has a good chance to qualify for the knockout stages.

“We played a good game against a tough opponent,” Elneny told beIN Sports after the game.

“We were really surprised with how good they are in terms of defensive organisation. They knew how to stop our key players.

“There are two matches remaining in the group and we have a good chance to qualify,” he added.

Egypt are currently joint second with Mali, and their next game will be against fourth placed Uganda, who lost their opening game against Ghana, on Saturday Jan. 21 at 21:00 CLT.
