Mali coach: We were under pressure against Egypt
Mali coach Alain Giresse assured that he was satisfied with his side’s performance, following a 0-0 draw against Egypt in the AFCON.
A dogged performance by Mali sees them joint second with Egypt on a point, after Ghana defeated Uganda 1-0 thanks to an Andre Ayew penalty.
Giresse commented “Egypt are a strong team and we were under pressure in the game, but we gave a good performance and we showed up to an acceptable level.”
Later in the press conference Giresse continued: “We aim to provide good performance in the upcoming matches against Ghana and Uganda in order to compete to qualify for the second round.”
Mali play against Ghana on Saturday, whilst Egypt take on Uganda in Group D.
