Here is the KingFut roundup of the results in the second matchday of group A. Debutants, Guinea Bissau were denied a historic win while hosts Gabon continued to stutter.

Gabon vs Burkina Faso

The hosts left themselves in a tight spot after failing to record a win against Burkina Faso. They performed better than in the opening match but fell behind to a goal by Nakoulma. A hopeful aerial ball forward fell onto the Burkinabe striker and he held off two Gabon defenders to score, midway into the first half. Aubameyang converted a penalty to draw his country level in the 38th minute. Despite commitment from both sides, there would be no goals in the second half.

Cameroon vs Guinea Bissau

Unfancied, Guinea Bissau stunned Cameroon with a brilliant 13th minute solo goal by Piqueti. Up to this moment, Cameroon had been the better team and continued to dominate. They looked to be headed for a frustrating and embarrassing loss to the debutants but managed to power into a lead in the second half. First, Siani equalized with a drive just outside of the box on the hour mark. Ngadeu-Ngadjui scored in the 78th minute to win the match for Cameroon.

These results leave Cameroon at the top of group A, on four points. Gabon and Burkina Faso have two points each while Guinea Bissau only have a point with one round of matches left to play.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
