Egypt international Ahmed Elmohamady spoke to ON Sport ahead of Egypt’s encounter with Uganda in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs need to win against Uganda to have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages after dropping two points against Mali on Tuesday.

“Uganda’s match is very important for us,” The Hull City defender told ON Sport on Thursday.

“Ghana is playing against Mali, but we have to concentrate on our game. Uganda is a good side and played well against Ghana and lost by a Penalty-kick. There are no tough or weak teams in Africa.

“We only drew against Mali and every point we win will help us to qualify for the next round.

“People are used to watch the national team win by three or four goals, but this is a new period for us as we didn’t qualify for the last three editions of the tournament.

“We don’t have experience in the team as before. This is our first tournament in a long while and it’s a good preparation for the World cup qualifiers,” Elmohamady concluded.

Egypt are currently joint second with Mali, and will face fourth placed , who lost their opening game against Ghana, on Saturday Jan. 21 at 21:00 CLT.
