EXCLUSIVE | Al Ahly looking to hijack Zamalek bid for Souleymane Coulibaly
Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek are set to go head-to-head over the capture of Kilmarnock striker Souleymane Coulibaly.
Coulibaly, 22, has attracted interest from Egypt with Africa’s biggest clubs set to battle it out for his signature.
Zamalek have already offered Kilmarnock a fee in excess of $500,000 for the player with the club informing the Whites that they’ll need to up their bid.
Al Ahly have now sent in a bid as well to sign the player for a fee higher than Zamalek’s.
The player’s representative is currently in Cairo to negotiate the deal and KingFut can confirm that Coulibaly is currently on the plane heading to Cairo.
Coulibaly has scored 11 goals for Kilmarnock in all competitions this season and is the leading goalscorer of the team.
The forward broke onto the scene in the 2011 U17 FIFA World Cup in Mexico scoring a record nine goals in four games as Ivory Coast crashed out of the competition in the round of 16, including a hattrick against Marquinhos’ Brazil and a Poker against Denmark in the group stages.
The player’s career came to a halt after unsuccessful spells at Tottenham Hotspurs, Italian clubs Pitsoiese & Bary as well as English outfits Peterborough and Newport County.
Souleymane Coulibaly found his feet again at Kilmarnock after joining the club last summer.
