Ghana have already secured their spot in the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals after beating both Uganda and Mali. They will play against Egypt in their final Group D game on Wednesday.

Amid suggestions that Ghana will be looking to avenge their 2-0 loss against Egypt in a World Cup qualifier in November, the West Ham forward said that they don’t have rivalry with Egypt. He revealed they’d use their upcoming clash to prepare for the knockout stage.

“We don’t have any rivalry with Egypt. We set out to qualify and we have. We are going to try and prepare and play them,” Ayew said, according to several Ghanaian news outlets.

“The difference between us and them now is we know we are in the quarter-finals. We are going to use their game to prepare for the quarter-finals,” Ayew revealed.

The Pharaohs, who drew against Mali in their group opener before beating Uganda, will be looking for at least a draw against Ghana to secure the second spot regardless of the result of Mali’s match with Uganda.
