Egypt national team legendary goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary expressed his optimism for next encounter with Morocco through his official Twitter account.

El-Hadary recently became the oldest player to ever feature in the Africa Cup of Nations during Egypt’s encounter with Mali in the group-stages, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

“A curse? I don’t believe in such things and whatever happened in the past already happened. The Egyptian national team now doesn’t fear any opponents,” the 44-year-old goalkeeper tweeted.

The Atlas Lions are considered Egypt’s boogey team since last time the Pharaohs defeated them was in 1986 even though Egypt have won four Africa Cup of Nations titles since then, while Morocco only managed to qualify from the group-stages only twice.

“We’re playing to make the Egyptian nation happy and we’re aiming to reach the podium,” he added. Same thoughts were also shared by Egypt’s youngster Ramadan Sobhi.

Egypt is hoping to end the hoodoo on Sunday as the team will face Morocco in the quarter-finals.
