Malang Diedhiou appointed as referee for Egypt-Burkina Faso
CAF have announced the appointment of Senegalese referee Malang Diedhiou for the 2017 African Cup of Nations semi-final between Burkina Faso and Egypt.
The Pharaohs have qualified for the semi-finals after snatching a goal in the dying minutes of their game against Morocco to seal an important win, while the Black Stallions eliminated Tunisia 2-0.
Diedhiou refereed the 2016 CAF Confederations Cup second leg final, in addition to the group stage in the 2016 Olympic Games. His first time to meet the Egyptian national team was during the 2017 AFCON as he saw Egypt defeat Uganda in the last minutes of the game.
The Senegalese referee was nominated for CAF Referee of the Year award in 2016 alongside eventual winner Bakary Gassama and Egyptian referee Gihad Greisha.
The match will be held on Wednesday at Stade de l’Amitie in Libreville.
