OFFICIAL: Emmanuel Adebayor joins Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir
Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor has officially joined Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir after six months without a club.
Last club Adebayor played for was English side Crystal Palace, before he was released. The player scored once in his 15 appearances for the club.
The former Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker had been a free agent since his last match with the Eagles on May 15 last year. However, he featured for Togo national team in the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Istanbul Basaksehir announced the one-and-a-half-year deal on Twitter after a medical test was conducted with the 32-year-old player on Tuesday morning. The Turkish side is currently aiming to lead the Turkish Super Lig as they are currently in second place, two points behind Besiktas and three points ahead of Galatasaray.
Adebyaor was named Africa’s best player of the year, the same year he won the African Player of the Year 2008 by Super Magazine.
