Egypt manager Héctor Cúper spoke about the injures, Burkina Faso, and history ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals on Wednesday.

The Pharaohs will be without the services of Mohamed Abdel-Shafy, Mohamed Elneny, and Marwan Mohsen, who tore his ACL against Morocco, but the Argentinean believes that he has the solutions to replace them.

“Mohamed Elneny, Mohamed Abdel-Shafi and Marwan Mohsen are not available for the game. I’m very sad because of these injuries but I’m confident the other players we have can step in and cover,” Cúper said in his press conference.

“We are not looking to history or even thinking about the final; we are only focused on Burkina Faso’s game.

“They are a strong team. They do not have a big history but they beat several teams with big history to reach the semis. They are very disciplined and it will be a tough game that will be only decided on the pitch.

“I’ve never seen a group so determined to win their eighth AFCON title. We are closer to the dream,” he concluded.

The Pharaohs have never lost a game against Burkina Faso, as they have met on six previous occasions; Egypt have won four of those matches and drew two.

Egypt are set to face Burkina Faso in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals on Wednesday, January 1 in Libreville at Stade de l’Amitié.
