Ghana’s Jordan Ayew joins Swansea
Ghana striker Jordan Ayew left Aston Villa to join English Premier League side Swansea City as confirmed by the Welsh club.
Ayew will join the Swans in an exchange deal with Neil Taylor who will join Aston Villa in return, in addition to an undisclosed fee that the Premier League side will pay as part of the transfer. The 25-year-old signed a three-and-a-half year contract.
The player will be heading to Wales to play for his brother’s, Andre Ayew, former club after the 2017 African Cup of Nations as he is part of Ghana’s squad that reached the tournament’s semi-finals.
“He is a very good acquisition. He is versatile and dynamic to attack the lines and get in behind defence. He will certainly give us something different to what we’ve got,” Swansea head coach Paul Clement told the club’s official website.
“I’m sure his brother has given him the inside track on the club.”
Ayew scored 10 goals in 58 games for Aston Villa, who he joined in 2015 from Lorient.
