Adlene Guedioura joins Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee
Algerian midfielder Adlene Guedioura left Watford and joined Premier League side Middlesbrough signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The French-born player joined the Hornets in 2014 after being loaned from Crystal Palace and made the move permanent in 2015. He made 48 appearances for Watford, including a loan spell, and scored twice.
Guedioura’s deal is thought to be in the region of £3.5m, yet the fee was undisclosed by both sides. The 31-year-old player is the Boro’s third signing of the January window, following Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford.
“He’s the kind of player who has a personality, quality, and he has experience in the Premier League. He’s a player who is not for just now, I liked him a long time ago,” said Middlesbrough coach Aitor Karanka after Boro’s 1-1 draw with West Brom.
Karanka will aim to use Guedioura’s experience in the Premier League having played in England for much of his career.
