El-Ahmadi: Egypt game will take me a long time to forget
The Atlas Lions were knocked out by Egypt in the quarter-finals thanks to Kahraba’s late winner, whose goal qualified the Pharaohs to the semi-finals, where they beat Burkina Faso on penalties to face Cameroon in the final.
“We are very disappointed to be knocked out. The AFCON is being played in very tough conditions like the high temperature, humidity and the bad pitch conditions,’’ El Ahmadi said.
“However, we performed very well and the team improved game after game in the group-stages. In Egypt’s game, I think we were the better team but they scored a late goal against the run of play.
“Our target as a group was to fight to make the Moroccan people happy, but unfortunately we couldn’t. The Egypt game will take me a long time to forget,’’ he concluded.
