Warda: We did all we could in the tournament but that’s how football is
National team and PAOK attacking midfielder Amr Warda revealed his heartache after Egypt failed to win the 2017 African Cup of Nations title losing the final match to Cameroon on Sunday.
Egypt lost its domination and advantage in the first half of the match and was not able to stop Cameroon’s uprising losing the game eventually 2-1.
“Thank god for everything. We tried to win the cup for our fans but we were not successful,” Warda said to beIN Sports as he cried after the match. “The players did the best they could during the tournament but we did not win the cup at the end of the day.”
Warda, who recently signed for Greece Super League club PAOK, was sorrowful after his team failed to win their eighth title and the first for him.
“Fans should not feel sad after the loss. We are a new generation and we’ll do our best in the next period in the World Cup qualifiers,” the 23-year-old concluded.
