EXCLUSIVE | Aly Ghazal’s agent discusses motives behind China move
Aly Ghazal’s agent said that money wasn’t the only motive behind Ghazal’s decision to move to China from CD Nacional.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined Chinese Super League side Guizhou Zhicheng from Portuguese club CD Nacional during the January transfer window.
“Of course it is a very lucrative move for Aly but believe me that was not the only motivating factor for him,” the player’s agent Christian Emile told KingFut.
“I think people will start to take the Chinese Super League more seriously considering the volume of star names that have made the move over here.
“Guys like Hulk, Witsel, Andre Villas Boas, Tevez, and Jackson Martinez are just a selection of the more than 30 top level players and coaches who will be competing in China this upcoming season,” he added.
Chinese clubs have attracted some big names over the past two seasons. During the 2017 winter transfer window, Argentina striker Carlos Tevez and Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel were among several players who completed their moves to China, joining Shanghai Shenhua and Tianjin Quanjian, respectively.
“This trend will only continue to grow as the League gets more ambitious and hopefully with the success of Ghazal there, it will open the door for other Egyptian players,” he concluded.
Ghazal, who has five international appearances for the Egyptian national team, is the first Pharaoh to play in the Chinese Super League with its new form. His new club were promoted at the end of last season after finishing second in League One behind Tianjin Quanjian.
