Al Ahly captain Hossam Ghaly: Shikabala’s absence affects Zamalek
Al Ahly captain Hossam Ghaly spoke about the upcoming derby between Cairo’s two poles and discussed the absence of Zamalek star Shikabala.
Shikabala was not called-up by the White Knights coach Mohamed Helmy for the Egyptian Super Cup squad after the 30-year-old missed training sessions during the past 30 days.
Ghaly pointed out that Shikabala’s absence will affect Zamalek during their match against Al Ahly on Friday. “For us, we prepare ourselves to play against the whole squad and not just one player,” he told the press in the pre-match conference.
“It will be a tough match for both sides but we are eager to win the cup,” the former Tottenham midfielder said.
Regarding the absence of Marwan Mohsen, who was injured with the Egyptian national team in the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon and was ruled out as he suffered from anterior cruciate ligament tear, and the exhaustion of players who just came back from the championship, Ghaly commented that Al Ahly’s squad has a lot of qualified players and national team players are experienced enough to play the match even after returning from Gabon.
“We have a number of players ready for the match and the international players are experts who can surpass any exhaustion,” he concluded.
