After a heroic performance by the Red Devil trio in the AFCON, which Egypt finished second to Cameron in, the three players have been ruled out injured for Ahly’s upcoming fixture.

Just 5 days later, Egyptian giants Al-Ahly and El-Zamalek were in for another big game in the Egyptian Super Cup, which Zamalek won through a penalty shootout.

The game was not well received by both sides, especially Al Ahly. The team was not only disappointed because the team lost the match by a score of 3-1 in penalties, but also because three of the Ahly players picked up injuries before the return of the Egyptian Premier League.

Dr. Khaled Mahmoud, Al-Ahly’s first team physio, confirmed the injury of their main midfield man Abdullah El Said. He also confirmed Ahmed Hegazi and Ahmed Fathi will be out injured, who are considered the most important elements in Al-Ahly’s back line.

Dr. Khaled Mahmoud said that Abdullah El Said and Ahmed Fathi both picked up thigh injuries in the Super Cup match against El-Zamalek, which led to their substitution in the second half, he also added that Fathi picked up another injury in his ankle and will undergo an X-ray scan to detect the injury’s extent.

It should be noted that Ahmed Hegazi’s injury was from the accumulative fatigue on his thigh muscle after the AFCON tournament, where he featured in every game.

Al Ahly’s next game will be against El Ismaily in the league, next Wednesday which will mark 15, February 2017.
