Egypt is drawn in group B with Germany, Puerto Rico and Lithuania. African U18 champions, Angola is in group D with, tournament favorites, USA.

The draw ceremony also saw a new tournament logo revealed. This marked change of the competition name from FIBA U19 World Championship to FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.

The tournament will be held between the 1st and 9th of July, in Cairo. It is the first time this tournament is being held in Africa.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
