Pharaohs Abroad Roundup: Morsy and Trezeguet suffer
KingFut rounds up the Pharaohs Abroad action this week, to keep you up to date with Egyptian players overseas.
Sam Morsy – Wigan Athletic (England)
Sam Morsy’s Wigan lost at the death in a dramatic Championship game away to Fulham. Malone and Jacobs scored to give Wigan a 2-1 lead, before Odoi equalised. DR Congo international Neeskens Kebano then grabbed a later winner, and as a result, Wigan remain in the relegation zone.
Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’ – Royal Mouscron (Belgium)
Trezeguet played 78 minutes, and was substituted off while the score was 1-1. Mouscron had taken the lead in the 23rd minute, but opponents KV Oostende managed to draw level in the same half. Mouscron’s hopes of earning a point in their fight against relegation were dashed late in the match, however; Rozehal scored an 89th minute winner to condemn Trezeguet’s side to a 2-1 home defeat.
Omar Gaber – FC Basel (Switzerland)
Omar Gaber was excluded from the matchday squad as Basel beat FC Thun 2-0. The Swiss Super League leaders scored both of their goals in the second half: the first one came in the 79th minute when Schindelholz inadvertently scored past his own goalkeeper, and the second goal came through Doumbia in the 92nd minute. The result leaves Basel in first place with 53 points from 20 games.
Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ – Al-Ittihad (Saudi Arabia)
Mahmoud Kahraba was unfairly denied a goal in Ittihad’s 2-1 win over Al-Ta’awon on Saturday, as the referee cancelled out the Egyptian’s 31st-minute strike for a non-existent offside. The win sees the Jeddah club keep pace with their title rivals as the league season approaches the final stretch.
