AS Roma manager Luciano Spalletti has spoken highly of Egypt international Mohamed Salah after Roma’s 2-0 victory over Crotone in the 24th round of the Serie A.

Mohamed Salah marked his return to the Italian side with two assists to ensure Roma returned to second place in the Serie A, leapfrogging Napoli who returned back to third.

“Our goal was to ensure our opponents didn’t grow in confidence, because their fans can really get behind the team and they play good football,” Spalletti said.

“We had a wobble with the missed penalty, but then we took charge of the game and controlled it.

Spalletti was then asked about Mohamed Salah after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations and the Italian manager answered: “It’s great to have him back – he’s showed what he can do straight away.

“When he has the ball at his feet he bears down on you and when you try to tackle him he skips away like he did for the second goal.

“Any team would love to have a player with that ability and now that we have him back we don’t want to let him go again!,” he added.

The Giallorossi’s next game will be against Spanish side Villarreal in the round of 32 of the Europa League on Thursday, February 16 at Estadio de la Cerámica.
