Lionel Messi speaks about Egypt’s greatness and pyramids
Argentina and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi spoke about Egypt, his visit in 2007, and the Pyramids, during his visit for a health campaign.
The Argentine visited Egypt in order to motivate patients of Hepatitis C from all around the world to seek treatment in Egypt, and spoke about the country during his quick visit on Tuesday.
“It’s great to be at the Pyramids. It was a great moment when I entered the Pyramid and touched its stones,” Messi told ON E.
“I have touched Egypt’s greatness and knew how the ancients have lived, it’s a brilliant moment to watch the history closely. In school I learned about Egypt and I know how great it is.
“The visit was fast so I can’t talk about Cairo, but I know it has a great history. I wish to know it better someday.
The 29-year-old then spoke about his visit to Egypt with Barcelona in 2007, when they faced Al Ahly in a friendly game, which ended 4-0 to the Catalans, but Messi failed to score in that game and it was Eto’o (brace), Saviola, and Bojan, who were on the scoresheet.

“I have visited Egypt before with Barcelona to play a game here in 2007, but I can’t remember the match score,” Messi added.
“I don’t mind trying the Egyptian food while I am here,” he concluded.
