Egyptian Referee Gehad Gerisha to attend training camp ahead of World Cup
Egyptian referee Gehad Gerisha has been chosen to take part in a training camp in Italy that groups referees that are nominated to travel to Russia in 2018 for the World Cup.
Gerisha is among 53 international referees, who were nominated and will be overseen by FIFA‘s Referee Committee Chairman Pierluigi Collina. The 41-year-old referee was also nominated for the CAF Best Referee of the Year Award late last year.
The five-day camp, which will take place in Florence, Italy, will test the participating referee’s fitness and will include lectures on practical and theoretical situations. The referees will also be introduced and made familiar to the newly-introduced video technology.
The camp is set to begin on April 3rd and will end on the seventh of the same month. It will act as a test to narrow down the participating referees in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
