Le Havre’s Taher Mohamed to play just 2 matches at U-20 AFCON

Egypt U-20 national team director spoke about the participation of Le Havre’s attacking midfielder Taher Mohamed at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The 19-year-old player, who moved to Ligue 2 side Le Havre AC from Arab Contractors, will be joining the national team in their African quest which starts on Sunday.

“We made a final agreement with Le Havre regarding Taher Mohamed and we sent him the flight tickets,” Egypt U-20 national team director Adel Mahfouz told Youth and Sports radio station. “The player will arrive in Zambia at the same time of our arrival.”

However, according to the agreement, Mohamed will only play the first two matches with the Pharaohs in order to avoid exhaustion.

Egyptians are aiming finish in first or second position in Group A in order to secure a place in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted by South Korea. After being seeded in pot 3, Egypt drew hosts, Zambia, alongside Mali and Guinea and will be facing Mali in their opening match on Sunday.
