AS Roma to face Olympique Lyonnais in Europa League

Mohamed Salah’s AS Roma are set to face French side Olympique Lyonnais in the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League.

The Italians qualified to round of 16 after beating Spanish side Villarreal 4-1 on aggregate, Alexandre Lacazette’s side defeated Dutch side AZ Alkmaar 11-2 on aggregate.

The first game will be played in France at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Thursday, March 9, before facing each other again a week later at Stadio Olimpico, Rome.

Roma will be looking to win their first continental title since the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1961, while the French will try to win their second European title since the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1997.

It’s worth mentioning that Mohamed Salah have made four appearances in the Europa League for Roma this season, scoring once Romanian side Astra Giurgiu.

Mohamed Salah have reached the semi-finals of the Europa League twice with Basel in 2013 and ACF Fiorentina in 2015, but was knocked out by Chelsea and Sevilla respectively.
