Ramadan Sobhi shines in Stoke City’s victory over Middlesbrough
Ramadan Sobhi played the full 90 minutes as Stoke City secured an easy 2-0 win over visitors Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Stoke City XI: Lee Grant; Pieters, Martins Indi, Shawcross, Glen Johnson; Whelan, Cameron, Arnautovic, Joe Allen, Ramadan Sobhi; P.Crouch.
Middlesbrough XI: Víctor Valdés; Friend, Gibson, Bernardo, Fabio; Clayton, De Roon, Grant, Adama Traoré, Gestede; Gastón Ramírez.
Stoke started the game with high intensity, as the Potters were looking to make up for their heavy 4-0 defeat against Tottenham.
Thirteen minutes into the game, Sobhi hit the post after connecting with a low cross from Marko Arnautovic.
Arnautovic then opened the scoring for Stoke around the half-hour mark before completing his brace three minutes before the break.
The second half saw Sobhi with a lot of confidence, producing a lot of chances as the Egyptian youngster provided Joe Allen and Ibrahim Affellay with clear chances but they failed to convert them.
Six minutes from time, Sobhi was close to making it 3-0 but his diving header was well saved by Valdes at the near post.

In the injury time, a cross from Sobhi was cleared off the line as Allen flicked it toward the goal before a neat pass from Sobhi found Afellay, but the latter couldn’t quite flick it around Valdes who saved.
The Potters are now ninth in the league standings on 35 points, while Middlesbrough dropped into the relegation zone with 22 points.
