Abdel-Fattah: We have to respect the greatest refereeing generation in the history of Egypt

Egypt’s former referee and head of refereeing committee, Essam Abdel-Fattah, states that the current generation of referees is the greatest in the history of Egypt.

After Zamalek’s defeat to Maqassa in controversial circumstances in the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek’s chairman announced that his team will forfeit the league in protest of Gehad Gresiha controversial decisions during the game.

Abdel-Fattah stated, “Our referees are respectable and honorable. They are one of the best generations in the history of Egyptian football.”

He added, “We have to respect them and stop accusing them with false claims. We will not be the reason to anyone’s failure or any losers.”

On Gehad Greisha, he added, “Gehad Greisha is the best referee in Egypt and the second best in the continent. He made a huge mistake during the match, but his viewing angle was not good.”

“In Zamalek and Al Masry clash, the latter should have been awarded million penalties, but they weren’t awarded. It was Gresiha who was refereeing the game! These are humane mistakes that happen unintentionally.”

After the match, El-Maqassa currently occupy second spot with 45 points, seven points behind league leaders Al Ahly, while the Whites, remain in third with 40 points.
