Mortada: Zamalek will not continue the league
Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour has revealed that his side won’t continue the league this season after their controversial match against El-Maqassa on Friday.
The Whites lost 1-0 to Misr El-Maqasa under controversial circumstances, which saw referee Gehad Greisha not awarding them a penalty after Maqassa defender Ahmed Samy blatantly punched the ball away inside the penalty area.
“No matter what happens, I will not continue the league this season. I am not signing players to compete for this trophy,” Mortada said.
“No one can force Zamalek to play the league matches in the next period because we are not continuing it,” he added.
Mortada has revealed that the club board will meet next Friday and will take a decisive decision, and also accused Gehad Griesha of rudeness after not writing the penalty incident in his match report.
It’s worth mentioning that the Whites have threatened they will withdraw from the Egyptian Premier League unless the Maqassa match is replayed.
