Egyptian Football Association chairman Hany Abou-Rida has been confirmed as an eligible candidate to contest for the FIFA Council election.

Both South Africa Football Association president Danny Jordaan and South Sudan Football Association president Chabur Gok Alei withdrew just hours before FIFA announced results of integrity checks into all the candidates.

Their withdrawal comes less than a week after Zambia legend and former African Footballer of the year Kalusha Bwalya pulled out of the race.

Ten candidates were cleared by FIFA’s Governance Committee and confirmed as eligible to contest for the various African representatives’ slots on the FIFA council after passing all integrity checks.

The final list included Issa Hayatou and CAF presidential challenger Ahmad Ahmad, in addition to Constant Omari, Kwesi Nyantakyi, Leodegar Tenga, Hany Abou-Rida, Tarek Bouchamaoui, Lydia Nsekera, Almamy Kabele Camara and Sidy Dialo.

The 39th CAF Ordinary General Assembly will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on March 16.

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
