Al Ahly: FIFA to pay for Marwan Mohsen’s Salary
Al Ahly’s executive director Shereen Shams confirmed that FIFA will be paying for the salary of the club’s striker Marwan Mohsen after his recent injury with the national team.
Mohsen was injured in the 2017 African Cup of Nations and tore his anterior cruciate ligament in Egypt’s game against Morocco in the quarter-finals. The player recently had surgery in Germany as part of his recovery procedures.
The Red Devils contacted the international governing body of football after Mohsen’s injury to take advantage of the Club Protection Program which was introduced in 2012, as the program aims to help clubs with players injured playing for national associations in matches in the international agenda. This applies to players who were not able to participate with their teams for more than 28 days.
FIFA will pay for Mohsen’s salary during his recovery period and until the player is back with the team as confirmed by Shams.
