Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt lays out his thoughts on his team’s much anticipated CAF Champions League Round of 32 clash against Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Hossam El-Badry’s men will host South African Cup champions Bidvest Wits on the 11th of March in Cairo, before playing the return leg around one week later.

Bidvest Wits managed to come through the preliminary round after beating minows SS Saint-Louisienne and might feel harshly done by facing CAF Champions League record holders Al Ahly so early in the competition.

Regardless, Gavin Hunt is confident of his side’s chances against the Red Devils.

“We are excited to be playing against such a successful team. Every round in the CAF Champions League allows us to learn and experience more, and that adds to the depth of our team. We will be sure to do our very best,” Hunt tells KingFut.

Despite Al Ahly have not being at their best in Africa for the past couple of seasons, Hunt is adamant no special plans will be made for the encounter.

“We are preparing for them as we do every other match, there is no difference,” Hunt continued.

Al Ahly have won the CAF Champions League for a record eight times in history, three more than their closest opponent but Hunt is confident history will not play its toll on the encounter due to Wits’ rich history.

“Al Ahly is a long-standing successful team, and Bidvest Wits is the oldest football club in the Premier Soccer League. We hope that it will be a great game of football,” Hunt concluded.
