Ex-Zamalek star Emmanuel Amunike has warned Enugu Rangers from Zamalek, describing the match as a big test for the Nigerian champions.

The Whites are set to host Enugu Rangers in the first-leg of round 32 of the CAF Champions League on Sunday, before travelling to Nigeria a week later to play the return-leg.

The former Super Eagles star Amunike has urged Rangers to be mentally prepared for Zamalek, saying that the Nigerian side have a huge task ahead of them.

“It is a very big test for Rangers as Zamalek are one of the best teams on the continent and have won the trophy five times,’’ Amunike told Supersport

“They have to be at their optimal best against the Egyptians. Anything short of that won’t see them across the line.

“We have to be truthful to ourselves. I’m not sure Rangers will face any bigger test than Zamalek, even if they get to the group stage,’’ Amuenike continued.

“Zamalek will be urged on by their fans if they are allowed into the game. There will be a lot of gamesmanship and intimidation but they should try and ignore that.

“I was very happy that I won the Champions League with Zamalek. I cherish the experience till date. Zamalek are always a tough side so Rangers have a huge mountain to climb to beat them,” he concluded.

It’s worth mentioning that Rangers are currently 17th in the Nigerian Super League after 10 rounds, 10 points behind league leaders Plateau United.
