Zamalek reflect on league withdrawal
Zamalek president Mortada Mansour has proposed four hypotheses in the club’s extraordinary general assembly as they reflect on the team’s situation in the Egyptian Premier League.
Mansour had publicly stated that Zamalek took the decision to forfeit the league after the Whites’ 1-0 defeat against Misr El-Maqassa, in a game that saw a big controversial call when referee Gehad Greisha failed to award Zamalek a penalty after Maqassa defender Ahmed Sami evidently handled the ball inside the box.
The 64-year-old president suggested four options to the club members in the assembly, and they have to vote for one of the following choices:
- Zamalek’s withdrawal from the Egyptian Premier League
- Zamalek to proceed in the league
- Authorizing the club board to take the appropriate decision
- Playing with the youth team for the remainder of the season
It is expected that Zamalek to announce the outcome of the general assembly later during the day of Friday.
