Al Ahly’s football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz said that the team’s CAF Champions League second leg encounter against Bidvest Wits in Johannesburg will be a difficult match.

The Red Devils started their African quest with a narrow 1-0 victory over South Africa’s at El-Salam Stadium in the first leg of the round of 32. The team will head to South Africa for the second leg rendezvous on 19 March.

“We managed to claim victory in the first match and we’re willing to do the same in Johannesburg,” Abdel-Hafiz said to Al Ahly official website. “Our players will need to double their effort in the second leg match if they want to qualify to the next round.”

The eight-times Champions League winner might miss the services of key players Hossam Ghaly and Junior Ajayi as both players were injured in the first leg. They are undergoing medical tests to figure out the extent of their injury but Abdel-Hafiz doubts that they will be able to make it.

“Al Ahly performed well in the home match, especially in the second half,” he added. “All players should be focused in the away match and exert double the effort to be able to finish the game and qualify to the round of 16.”

In addition to being a hardcore football fan, Abdelrahman is a communications enthusiast who works in marketing, advertising, content creation and PR.
